Introduction to Six Sigma Black Belt Training

Six Sigma Black Belt Training: Those who have finished two projects with affidavits signed or one project with signed affidavit plus 3 years of work experience. The first thing one learns in this training is that six sigma can be applied in the project and how, plus what all entails a project- what are the goals that are to be achieved, what tools would be used in the project and more.

One will also learn how teams are managed, how much time each project needs, who will make decisions and on what principles, how does a leader motivate his team and his peers, how to rate the performance of team and peers, and what rewards to give to the team members who performed well.

Team’s success should be measurable and one should be able to highlight causes that led to the success of a particular team or project.

What efforts and resources are getting wasted should be highlighted so that this is not repeated in future projects.

The gaps between quality standards which are expected and which standards are being followed will be analyzed and brought about to a certain standard where they reflect no gap.

SWOT analysis will be taught in this training. This is an acronym for strength, weakness, opportunity, and threat. The name is self-evident. The company should know its strengths, weaknesses, threats from competitors vying for the same industry or market share and best opportunities such as recurring clients.

If six sigma is failing in any company then what is the reason behind it. Is the management not supportive? Is there a paucity of funds? Ensure communication solves the problem wherever it lies.

Is the team type right? What factors are influencing the team members? It could be their location and whether or the lack of availability of technology at disposal. The roles of each team member should be well defined otherwise nothing except chaos can prevail. What things should be borne in mind before a team member is hired, and what is the expertise of each member. Timelines and deadlines are success drivers hence use of these, and complete management support to good initiatives, plus laying down rules which are set in stone or at least some of these rules.

Then come motivation for team members. Development takes place in stages so trainees acquire knowledge of all stages of development prior to the adjournment or project completion stage.

The aim is to reach a stage of negligible wastage, lessening of production cycle timings, and it is also important to learn lessons from each project because let us not forget that six sigma is all and only about continuous improvement.

Then comes the question of how project success will be measured. The product should be of robust quality, and one with training on six sigma black belt would be able to ensure this.
